there's one thing that i have discovered that Kenyans can absolutely NOT live without..PAPERBAGS!!! Yeah paperbags is the one thing that people in this country of ours would die, lack of. You see if there's one thing i love doing is what we'd call in plain terms, people watching. its my favourite past time, my best sport and the one art that i have come to love and if i may say, master. So today in my amazing session of people watching which happened to take place on the stone pavement thingy on the back entrance of sarit, i came to the bright paperbag discovery of mine. really in all honesty, if they were to introduce those brown paper things that we see people on tv carrying their groceries in, there'd probably be a civil war or definately the numbers in upper muthaiga mental hospital(formerly known as Mathare)would tremendously go up. i mean that would be some form of capital torture. definately torture.
just imagine you going into nakumatt to buy a soda and instead of giving you a paper bag, they give u those brown paper thingys(ok can i just call them karatasi ya unga coz it fits better that brown paper thingys..deal??cool, moving on)yeah, so they give u karatasi ya unga to carry your stuff in.. or you want to go take shoes to the cobbler(weuwe kizungu is on point!!!) and your over there carrying torn viatus in karatasi ya unga...approximately every one in three people walking out of sarit was handling a paper bag..ok the fact that theres a major supermarket in there helps that fact but still..and come on think of the middle class kenyans, those of us without cars that can comfortably handle the karatasi ya jogoo..its actually quite a depressing thought...
and this post is gonna have to be cut short seeing as i just heard my name being called very menacingly by my mother and if i dont answer ill probably find my clothes outside the gate in a paperbag...so to be continued at a later time..
